Mental Health Clinician

Location: Monash Children's Hospital

Funding Requirement: $32,000 per year
Funding Period: : 3 years

Description of Position:
The Mental Health Clinician is a vital member of the multi-disciplinary team at the MCH CCC, providing psychosocial assessment, intervention and case management to children and families from the unit. The clinician has extensive clinical experience, both within a hospital setting and in the community, of working with children and adolescents who present with mental health difficulties.

The position is based within the Southern Health Paediatric Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service. This part time position allows the clinician to attend both the Psychsocial meeting and a ward round. Attendance at these meetings has proven to be a crucial component of this role, as it enables the clinician to liaise with medical, nursing, and psychosocial staff; take mental health referrals; provide secondary consultation regarding cases that involve psychosocial complexities; and provide debriefing and staff support.
